Sports since 1956

In 1956, Henri Tavernier, a young local of Morzine, son of a farmer and slate worker, opened his tailor’s workshop. Very quickly, he completed his craft activity by selling sporting goods and then renting equipment for skiing, with the help of his wife Henriette. The small business, then called Henri Tailleur, becomes Henri Sport, the beginning of a long history.

Rendez-vous à la Hutte !

With the development of tourism in the background, the couple quickly joined the La Hutte trade group and adopted the name. Ask a Morzinois to indicate the direction to “the Hut”, it is natural that he will send you to our store rue du Bourg. Over the years, the business group developed to finally focus its strategy around the brand INTERSPORT at the end of the 80s. The Tavernier family continues to write its story with the group developing on the stations of Morzine, Avoriaz and Les Gets.

Today, the “Hut” rue du Bourg, is a large 1000 m2 space dedicated to sporting goods but also a Quiksilver Store and a restaurant with the famous La Dez’alp. Beyond this “historic” area, two shops were also opened at the foot of the Super Morzine ski lift and next to the ESF kindergarten. Intersport in Morzine, now has three stores :

This long history, traced back to the 1950s to the present day, illustrates the constant evolution of winter and summer sports and that of the Morzine resort.
